Archdeacon John F. Hogan R.I.P.

JH Archdeacon John F. Hogan A.P. Puckane, Co. Tipperary had died. Fr John was a native of Crusheen, Co. Clare born on October 28th 1928 and was a priest of the Diocese of Killaloe for 61 years. 

He was a past pupil of St Flannan’s College, Ennis. He studied for the priesthood at St Patrick's College, Maynooth where he was ordained on June 20th 1954

          His first appointment was in St Finbarr’s College, Farranferris, Cork during which he also studied for the H Dip. Ed in UCC. In September 1955 he was appointed to St Flannan’s College, Ennis where he taught until 1973, becoming Vice President in July 1971.

          In July 1973 he was appointed Curate to the Cathedral Parish in Ennis and in 1976 he was appointed Administrator of the Cathedral Parish. In 1984 he was appointed Parish Priest of Nenagh, Co Tipperary where he continued until retirement as Parish Priest in 2002. In 1988 he was made a Canon of the Chapter and in 1993 he was appointed Archdeacon. After retirement in 2002 he was appointed as Assistant Priest to the Parish of Puckane, residing in Carrig, Ballycommon, Co Tipperary and he remained in this role until his death. He died on Friday, November 13th 2015 in Milford Hospice, Limerick

Reposing in the St Mary’s Church, Carrig, Co. Tipperary on this Sunday evening, November 15th 2015 from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm with Funeral Prayers at 7.00 pm.  Funeral Mass on Monday, November 16th 2015 at 2.00 pm in St Mary of the Rosary Church,Nenagh. The burial will take place in the grounds of St Mary’s Church, Carrig, Co. Tipperary after the Funeral Mass.
