Killaloe Pilgrims in Rome

Pilgrims_mini Pilgrims from across the Killaloe Diocese led by Bishop Kieran O'Reilly and Fr. Albert McDonnell have arrived in Rome to participate in the canonisation of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II.

The first days of their pilgrimage were spent in Montecassino where they took the opportunity to visit the Abbey of St. Benedict. One of their first visits in the eternal city was a call to the Pontifical Irish College where they were welcomed by the Rector, Msgr. Ciarán O'Carroll.

As well as attending the canonisation in St. Peter's Square on Sunday the pilgrims will participate in a special Mass of Thanksgiving in the Navicella Church on Monday afternoon at 4.00pm local time. The Mass has been organised especially for Irish Pilgrims and will be presided over by Cardinal Seán Brady. Visiting many other sites of interest in the city, the group will conclude their pilgrimage with a visit to Assissi before returning home next week.
