Lourdes Pilgrims Support Franciscan Missions

Each year on both the Diocesan and autumn Pilgrimages to Lourdes, pilgrims have the opportunity to support the work of the missions.

  Priests on the Pilgrimage offer Mass for the intentions that pilgrim’s request.  All the Mass offerings received on both Pilgrimages are given to support the work of the missions.  This year the Franciscans, who have a long association with our diocese, were the nominated missionaries to receive the support of the Pilgrimage.

Our picture shows Mary Freeman, Pilgrimage Secretary, presenting Brother Stephen O’Kane OFM, Director of the Franciscan Missionary Union, with a cheque for €18,245 to support their Friars in Zimbabwe and South America.
