15 February 2017 in Diocesan News |Lent is a graced time for listening to and reflecting on God’s Word, especially on the Sunday Gospels. This year our Sunday Readings are very rich. The Gospel of the third, fourth and fifth Sundays, for example, are taken from the Gospel of John and introduce us to some of the great stories of people who came to faith in Jesus, such as the Woman at the Well, the Man Born Blind and the story of Lazarus.

The 61st Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will leave Shannon on Monday 26th June, returning on Saturday 1st July. The cost this year is still €692 per person sharing and there will be a €10 discount for online booking at www.joewalshtours.ie

Members of the Eucharistic Adoration Apostolate met on Saturday while promoters of the St. Joseph's Young Priests' Society came together on Sunday afternoon.
06 February 2017 in Diocesan News |In his 2016 apostolic exhortation on The Joy of Love (Amoris Laetitia), Pope Francis referred directly to Saint Valentine’s Day saying, “I think of Saint Valentine’s Day; in some countries, commercial interests are quicker to see the potential of this celebration that we are in the Church”.
23 January 2017 in Diocesan News |On Friday last the Irish Bishops had a two hour meeting with Pope Francis in the Vatican as part of their visit Ad Limina Apostolorum. Bishop Fintan has prepared an account of the mesting and some personal reflections on it which he has generously shared with us here on the website.
19 January 2017 in Diocesan News |With the appointment of a new Bishop new committees and groups are put in place to assist him with the governance of the diocese. Many of these groups have been put in place over the last few months and have had some of their initial meetings already.
