10 January 2015 in Diocesan News |The Holy Father Pope Francis today named Archbishop Eugene Nugent as Apostolic Nuncio to Haiti. Born in Gortaderra, Scariff, Co. Clare Archbishop Nugent was ordained as a priest for the Killaloe Diocese on the 9th July 1983.

The parish was part of Newmarket-on-Fergus until it was created by the late Bishop Michael Harty on Christmas Eve 1967. The Birth of an Airport Parish, published by Columba Press, tells the story of how the faith and its people developed around the birth of an airport and the town of Shannon.

A large gathering of people and priests welcomed the new Archbishop. He was warmly welcomed by Archbishop Dermod Clifford who recently submitted his resignation to the Holy Father upon completion of his 75th year of age.
22 November 2014 in Diocesan News |The Holy Father, Pope Francis has today appointed Bishop Kieran O’Reilly SMA as Archbishop of Cashel and Emly in succession to Archbishop Dermot Clifford who submitted his resignation on completion of his 75th year of age. It is expected that Bishop Kieran will be installed as Archbishop in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Thurles early in 2015.
