Jubilee of Hope 2025
Jubillee of Hope Review at this stage
The Jubilee of Hope for 2025 has been experienced by so many as such a grace filled time. The theme of hope has been resonating so deeply with people who are very much in need of the important virtue of hope in their lives. Hope, that St. Paul reminds us does not disappoint.
Along with deep prayer, reflection and meditation on the rich theme of hope there have been so many pilgrimages of hope organised at local, national and international level. In the diocese of Killaloe there have been a multitude of pilgrimages to Holy Wells and Shrines right throughout the year, designated places of plenary indulgence, always associated with Jubilee years.
Two things stand out for me personally. One was the World Youth Day pilgrimage of Hope to Rome in early August with over one million young people attending. It was a most memorable and faith filled week for all concerned. The other was the Pilgrim Passport initiative between Croagh Patrick, Knock Shrine and Lough Derg. Anyone who completed all three of these wonderful pilgrimages earned a stamp of participation and a gold medal to wear.
The great Jubilee continues until the feast of the epiphany in January of next year.
Hope does not disappoint. May we be renewed and refreshed in hope along with the associated virtues of faith and love. Amen!
