A call to prayer: join the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Relics in Ennis Cathedral
Relics to be present in the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul on Friday 9th of May for Mass at 7.00 pm and for a time of prayer and veneration after Mass until 9.00 pm that evening.
Beginning on 2 May, the faithful across Ireland and beyond are invited to unite in prayer for the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a deeply cherished devotion that will lead us to the Feast of the Sacred Heart on Friday, 27 June. This powerful journey of prayer begins in The Church of the Holy Child, Whitehall, Dublin, and concludes in Malahide, where Archbishop Dermot Farrell will celebrate the closing Mass.
As part of this special Jubilee Year, each Friday will feature prayer and Masses led by bishops and clergy from across Ireland. The novena will be a spiritual thread weaving through towns and cathedrals – from Ennis to Belfast, Newry to Galway, calling hearts home to Christ. Among the leaders are Bishop Paul Dempsey (2 May, Dublin), Bishop Fintan Monahan (Ennis), Bishop Phonsie Cullinan (Waterford), and many others, culminating in a special act of national consecration by Archbishop Eamon Martin in Knock Shrine on 22 June.
Speaking ahead of the Novena, Bishop Fintan Monahan offered this invitation saying, “All are welcome, as we pray this special novena together – especially in this Jubilee Year, a time of grace and renewal. The Sacred Heart of Jesus burns with love for each of us. As we lift our prayers together, let us entrust our hopes, wounds, and needs to His Heart, full of mercy and peace.”
Whether you can attend in person or join from home, each novena day will be livestreamedon www.sacredheartcrusade.ie. For more information please visit Shalom World here
