PRAYERTIME: BEING A TEACHER

A moment to remember and reflect:
· What brought you first into teaching?
· Who were your own role models as teachers?
· What have been the low points for you as a teacher?
· What have been the high points for you as a teacher?

Word of God
Mark 6:30-34 (And he set himself to teach them at some length)

Reflection
Jesus was a teacher.
Any teacher can influence young people for life.
Teaching is a special job,
because it has roots in who we are and who we want to be
It is rooted in a desire.
Where does that desiring come from?
Could this desiring be in some way the desiring, also, of God?
Could teaching be in some way an expression of God with us and within us?
Could teaching be our calling/vocation?

Prayer
In our deepest desires
and in the things that draw us,
we know your power and influence,
O God of life.
Even with life's conflicts and difficulties,
keep us faithful
to your spirit that is within us
and keep us connected
to what is good in life. Amen.
